Get to know Apple's Closed-Display Mode.

How does a MacBook work when it’s closed? It’s called Closed-Display Mode and this long-time feature on MacBooks was the inspiration for BookArc. Switching to Closed-Display Mode is super easy. But don’t take our word for it, here are Apple’s Closed-Display Mode instructions. If you already use an external monitor as a dual-screen setup with your MacBook, BookArc gives you the option to switch to one display so you can laser focus on a single giant screen and gain back a ton of desk space.

Can I buy the BookArc inserts separately?
Yes, you can buy them on our US site here.
Are the available inserts compatible with all versions of BookArc?
The inserts are not compatible with the original form-factor of BookArc, BookArc for MacBook Air, or BookArc mod. Original BookArc and BookArc mod came with numbers on the inserts (some combination of 1-7). BookArc for MacBook Air came with a "1A" on the insert.
Ok, now why would I want to use my MacBook closed?
Many reasons, but basically it boils down to wanting a portable notebook on the road, and a comfortable desktop computer at home. Using your MacBook closed on a BookArc while connected to your favorite widescreen monitor, keyboard and mouse is truly the best of both worlds. Check out the video here.
What! I can use my MacBook closed? How do I do that?
Yes, you can. Connect a nice big external monitor, your favorite keyboard & mouse and you’ve essentially turned your MacBook into a space-saving micro tower. Apple calls it “Closed Clamshell Mode”. Read specific instructions directly from the Apple tech support site right here.

    14” MacBook Pro M4 Max + BookArc = Elegance of Integration

    Needing to bail out from a 27” iMac—Apple needs to bring back a larger iMac—I determined the 14” MacBook Pro M4 Max paired with the 27” Apple Studio Display would best fit my needs, unfortunately the additional hardware was occupying too much desktop space.

    I ran across the BookArc online a couple of days ago and ordered the Space Grey option to match the MacBook Pro.

    The BookArc arrived today and, less 5-minutes later, I had it setup just behind the Apple Studio Display returning me, once again, to a useful desktop. Thank you BookArc!
